Konkani comedy actor’s life behind the scene

“When I was one year ten months old, my father passed away. My younger brother was just an infant of forty days and my eldest sister was three-year-old. My mother Leena Crasta was a beedi roller by which she educated her three children and made us good humans in society. My maternal uncle helped us in our daily toil and struggle,” said Sunil Crasta during Taallo Umaallo live phone-in programme of Radio Sarang September 27.

Mr Crasta was born in Bajal. Currently, he resides with his mother Leena, wife Linnet, children Siyona and Darren. He has been acting in dramas and comedy reality shows for the last 23 years. He works in Xavier’s ITI Asaigoli as a lecturer of general science and engineering drawing for the past 24 years.

Mr Crasta’s journey in the drama field started from Tulu dramas. So far he has acted in more than 50 Tulu dramas and 40 Konkani dramas, he said. Apart from this, he has also contributed in reality competitions like Bale Telipale where his team secured second place.  He bagged the runners up in Yeya Hasoya and Hasyanso Pavs comedy shows.

Mt Crasta has also acted in local Konkani serials like Godfather and Flat No 403 and a Tulu movie too. He stressed that if a student completes a degree he/she may not get a good job; but if a student studies ITI, there is no worry about jobs at all.

During his interaction, he remembered Rev Fr Francis Lewis, the former parish priest of Holy Spirit Church Bajal who had initially supported his drama and acting.

Right now Mr Crasta is active in Comedy Company YouTube channel along with Nellu Permannur and team. He also does emceeing for local celebrations in Konkani.

Many of his well-wishers called and interacted with him.
